The Sylvia Wright Trust was started in 1993 by Madam Sylvia Wright in order to help to improve the lives of hearing impaired children in Tamil Nadu, which is located in South India. She chose this place as her work was greatly needed as previously disadvantaged children were kept back at home without education or proper facilities. She chose the town of Thiruvannamalai, which has low educational standards and where many of the people are illiterate or semi-literate.
Since starting the school, Rangammal Memorial Hr.Sec.School for the Hearing Impaired, there has been responsible for a great change in the lives of the hearing impaired children of the area.
Sponsoring a child through the Sylvia Wright Trust is a truly unique life changing experience not only for the child but also for you, the sponsor. Child Sponsorship is a unique relationship between you and your sponsored child.
When you become a SWT Sponsor, you will help a child break free from the clutches of poverty and give the child a future full of hope. It is also a relationship that extends to the child’s family and the community which enables you to make a lasting impact.
Currently 200 students are studying in our school, from that 159 children are sponsored. Many of them are sponsored by UK supporters.
